Bi-Polar Pulse Current Magnetizer for Driving Magnetization Reversal Motor

For the sake of a motor with lower power loss, Magnetization Reversal Motor(MRM) has been proposed. MRM has the same configuration as the Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM), but a low coercive force core is applied to the stator. Driving MRM requires a pulse current for magnetizing the stator core. This paper proposes a bi-polar pulse current magnetizer for driving MRM and reveals the passive component’s relationship between voltage, current, and constant. Finally, this paper presents experimental verification of the proposed magnetizer using inductive load simulated a single phase of MRM.
