The Impact Of A Lithospheric Quasi-Direct Current Sources On A Synchronous Generator Operation

The article presents the results of a study of the impact of a lithospheric quasi-direct current sources on the objects of the electric power system. A test circuit, for simulation, consist of a power system section by an enlarged generator-step-up transformer unit that is typically used at a hydroelectric power plants. The results of investigation show that quasi-direct current appearance in a power system is possible not only from the influence of a geomagnetic, but also from a lithospheric disturbances, while the main quasi-direct current sources of a lithospheric nature are located near the geological faults and near the large river channels. The simulation results used for calculation and analysis of a possible synchronous generator vibrations. The effect of a quasi-direct currents influence on the generator-step-up transformer unit is a the second current harmonic begin to significantly prevail in the stator current, which causes rotor of a synchronous generator vibrations. During vibration calculation of a synchronous generator rotor a possible resonance phenomena was not taken into account, but it could increase the damage probability of a synchronous generator to a greater extent.
