A High Isolation Antenna Array with Simple Feedings for Miniaturized 35GHz Radar Applications

A high isolation antenna array with simple feedings is proposed for 35GHz radar systems. The antenna array mainly consists of two dipoles and a metal reflector. The dipoles operate in 34.5GHz–35.5GHz and their edge-to-edge distance is only 0.2 λ0. Their strong mutual couplings are reduced and the beam patterns are improved by adding a metal wall and the optimized metal reflector respectively. 30dB isolation, 6.6dBi realized gain and directional beams shown that the antennas can be used for miniaturized 35GHz shorted-range radar applications.
