Mobile Medium Frequency Radio Beacon for the Arctic

The article is devoted to the study of the impedance matching unit (IMU) of a small-sized antenna in the middle wave frequency range. IMU is the key component in the construction of a small-sized mobile whip antenna, the length of which is many times shorter than the operating wavelength. IMU with a small whip antenna is intended for installation on a vehicle and working with a transceiver can be used as a mobile radio beacon and perform the function of direction-finding equipment for aircrafts. A theoretical and practical study of the developed IMU with very small-sized whip antenna has shown its effectiveness, despite its small geometric dimensions. The study of underlying surface properties influence on the distance and coverage area and the study of the field strength created by developed antenna at a distance of150 km has been carried out.
