Design of a Ku-band Highly-Integrated Dual-Polarized Dipole Antenna Array

A Ku-band dual-polarized triangular antenna array is proposed. The antenna is composed of two orthogonally placed dipoles which are vertically fixed on an aluminum cavity. The dipoles are excited by two similar coaxial feeders. In order to reduce the entire size of the antenna, the dipole element is bent and the SMP interface is integrated at the end of the coaxial feeder. Furthermore, two slots are placed on the outer conductor of the coaxial for a better impedance matching. Simulation and test results show that the antenna voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) is less than 1.65, and the antenna isolation is greater than 39.4 dB in the operating frequency band of 13.8GHz to 14.6 GHz. At the center frequency of 14.2GHz, the gains of the antenna array of the two polarization ports are 13.3dBi and 13.7dBi, respectively.
