Nanoscale Photonic Technologies in the context of Microwave Signal Processing

The technology of nanoscale patterned semiconductors is the key for the miniaturization of photonic circuits. As an example, temperature-controlled delay lines are combined in a single photonic chip to form a coherent four-tap reconfigurable microwave filter operating in the 10 – 50 GHz band. Also, a nanoscale GHz optomechanical oscillator is locked to an external master oscillator reproducing with much decreased phase noise.
