Simulation Model of Lane Change Maneuvers Based on Generalization of ECA 184 and Deterministic-Stochastic Approach

Purpose of work: consideration of the issues of modeling the traffic flow on the highway on the basis of the deterministic-stochastic approach developed by A.P. Buslaev. The mathematical model of traffic flow on the highway, based on the deterministic-stochastic approach, was developed and the corresponding simulation model was created. In accordance with the deterministic-stochastic approach, the velocity of traffic flow is represented as a sum of the deterministic component, which corresponds to the velocity of the model’s cellular field on which the particles move, each of which corresponds to a vehicle, and the stochastic component, which corresponds to the average speed of the particles in the field. The cellular field consists of circular sequences of cells. Each such sequence corresponds to a lane. There are two types of particles, one of which (the first type) corresponds to fast and the other (the second type) to slow vehicles. Particles of different types differ in the probability of moving to a free cell on the time tact. In addition, it is assumed that a particle of the first type occupies one cell, and a particle of the second type two cells. If we assume that all particles belong to the first type and the probability of moving to another lane is zero, then the rule of motion on the cellular field corresponds to the rule of motion of the cellular automaton ECA 184.
