Variable Parameter Equivalent Circuit of Multi-Phase Induction Motors with Different Sets of Windings

Multi-phase induction motors can be derated operation by cutting off sets of windings under open-circuited fault conditions or light load conditions. The parameters of multi-phase induction motors are changed after cutting off sets of windings. In this paper, the paraments of a 15-phase induction motor composed of three sets of 5-phase windings with nonsinusoidal power supply are studied. Firstly, the fundamental and 3-order harmonic stator leakage reactance parameters with different sets of windings are recalculated. Secondly, the fundamental and 3-order harmonic magnetizing reactance considering the magnetic circuit saturation are recalculated. Thirdly, variable parameter equivalent circuit of multi-phase induction motors with different sets of windings derated operation is established. Finally, a 4SkW 15-phase induction motor is simulated to verify the calculation results.
