Abstract:

The article presents an approach to analyzing wireless network traffic implemented using Python programming language tools, in particular the Pandas library. The main purpose of the work is to show the potential application of methods of the Pandas library for analyzing wireless network traffic, and to demonstrate possible optimization of WLAN traffic research applying big data technologies. To ensure the availability and fault tolerance of wireless networks, continuous monitoring is necessary, so the actual topic of this paper is to increase the performance of tracking anomalous events in traffic during its analysis. The main tool is the Python module stack, namely NumPy, Pandas, MatPlotLib and SciPy.

I. Introduction

Currently, the volume of traffic is increasing due to the connection of new subscribers and the development of communication channels. According to the Cisco Visual Network Index statistics, the number of new connections has increased 4 times over the past 5 years [1]. The statistics include mobile traffic, wired connection traffic, and Wi-Fi traffic. The priority task now is quick traffic analysis in order to avoid theft of user passwords, hacking and so on. This article provides an experimental assessment of methods and technologies for big data analysis.
