Application of DC Electric Spring in Modern DC Microgrids, Review and Proposition

Dc electric springs (DCESs) are a new and innovative solution for addressing the common issues of DC microgrids and paving the way toward wide implementation of DC microgrids especially in remote areas and in the presence of renewable energy resources. In this work, different proposed applications of DCES in DC microgrids are reviewed. Next, a list of gaps is given to be considered in any future study based on the previous works. Finally, a roadmap for a practical and successful DCES integration into future modern DC microgrids is proposed.
