Miniaturized And Wideband Chipless RFID Tag Antenna

This paper presented the miniaturized and wideband chipless RFID tag. A compact and wideband egg-shaped monopole antenna with a slotted triangle-shaped ground plane tag antenna had been designed, simulated and fabricated with a dimension of 170 mm × 120 mm using PET substrate operating between 0.9 GHz and 2.9 GHz. The 0.17λ × 0.51λ omnidirectional monopole antenna improved the overall bandwidth and the gain antenna is compared to the conventional circular monopole antenna. The proposed egg-shaped monopole antenna can be integrated with the coding element as the transceiver of the transponder for the retransmission method that can be used for chipless RFID application.
