Linear Array of Leaf-Shaped Bowtie Slot Antenna Electromagnetically Fed by Microstrip Line

In this paper, a design of linear array of slot antenna operating within quasi millimeter wave frequency band is presented. In array structure, leaf-shaped bowtie slot antenna is used as radiating element. The array antenna is designed to operate within 27GHz to 29GHz. Each radiating element are electromagnetically connected to microstrip feeding circuit. Quarter-wavelength transformer is used to convert from antenna load impedance to 50Ω line. Throughout this paper, antenna characteristics are evaluated by using Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method in commercial software (Sim4Life). Analytical results show that −10dB impedance bandwidth is within 27.27GHz to 28.94GHz which is about 1.67GHz. Actual gain has a peak value of 13.78dBi at 27.5GHz and −3dB gain bandwidth is within 27GHz to 29GHz.
