Designed Observer of Dual-Polar Battery Model for Fault Detection of Voltage Sensor

The purpose of this study is to detect voltage sensor fault by using a designed observer of dual polar battery model. In order to verify the effectiveness of the designed observer, a simulation study is conducted and a disconnection fault is introduced in the simulation. The results show that the proposed observer succeeded in detecting the faults that occurred in the battery voltage sensor readings. The existence of residual signals on a particular time period indicates the occurrence of faults. After the fault condition is resolved, the voltage sensor status will be returned to normal.
