Ph.D. Research, Component of the Engineering Education

Ph.D. Research is, certainly, a component of engineering education because it produces effects irrespective of the historical period in which it was carried out and of the Ph.D. candidate’s age. In order to support this information, we will present in detail some case studies in Ph.D. theses defended between 1970-2019, carried out by the Ph.D. candidates in the first 5-7 years of activity after graduating or by the Ph.D. candidates who have a lot of professional activity.Common elements of these case studies, which allow a comparative analysis, refer to the fact that all started from solving a problem required by practice, and the solutions were checked by carrying out experiments on real models at a reduced scale.
