Modeling of Solar Cells with Quantum Dots GaN

Mathematical computer modeling of the electron state in a quantum dot GaN with a shell is considered in order to use the study results to optimize the parameters of third generation of solar panels. The dependence study of the spectrum of natural energy levels on the parameters of cylindrical, prismatic and pyramidal quantum dots with a shell is presented in this article. To calculate the optimal size of quantum dots, a finite motion model of quasi-free S-electrons with the corresponding effective mass is used. The Schrödinger wave equation for steady states and boundary conditions at the core-shell boundary of quantum dots are applied. Scilab software package, numerical methods and discrete structured grids are used for mathematical modeling and plotting the probability density of an electron in a given region of a prismatic quantum dot. The technology of obtaining arrays quantum dots GaN of porous GaAs is proposed and optimized. The relevance and prospects of quantum dots application in modern solar panels are considered, namely the possibility of using GaN/porous-GaAs/GaAs heterostructures as photoelectric converters of solar energy. The proposed structures of solar cells can increase the efficiency of conversion of solar energy, which can double the existing efficiency of solar panels.
