Smart Parking System through Automation in License Plate Recognition

Technology has come a long way since the first time it was discovered to a stable growth over the years and finally in full bloom at maximum usage during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Anything and everything one can think of has some sort of usage of technology in it. From the banking systems in earlier days having to record rows of data in ledgers to development of fully automated computer systems holding data worth millions. Amidst all of this there was a parallel increase in the number of emerging cyber threats, shifting humanities focus to cyber security to the point that actual physical threats are now an old school thing and are considered to hold less importance than protecting data held by businesses on online and offline platforms. However, these neglected physical threats are just as important and are mainly focused on being able to maintain the overall protection of the parameters of the particular property. This is where ANPR (Automatic number-plate recognition) comes in. From maintaining deco drum via smart parking applications to helping in ensuring proper law enforcement. A technological tool can be used as the root of many support systems. The security personnel will no longer have to come out to check stickers on vehicles as everything will be fully automated. It will also eliminate the need for stickers at the first place as all the data will be stored directly in the database and the students and faculty do not need to remember to bring it along with them either. This paper suggests the elimination of the tradition parking system and usage of an ANPR based smart parking application instead to eliminate the mentioned issues faced in our educational institute.
