Printed Microstrip Patch Antenna with Truncated comers for Quad-band Wireless Applications

A multi-band microstrip patch antenna with truncated corners for various wireless applications has been proposed in this paper. The antenna consists of a rectangular patch having dimensions of (29.8*38.4*0.03mm

). The patch is mounted on FR-4 material, which is used as the dielectric substrate. Multiple bands are obtained covering frequencies from 2.4-2.5GHz, 2.9-3.0GHz, 4.3-4.4GHz, and 4.5-4.7GHz supporting various microwave applications. The first resonant band is used for the IEEE802.11(WLAN-Wi-Fi), IEEE 802.15.4 (LR-WPANs) standards in the SM band. The second frequency band is used to operate unlicensed Part 15 Devices in the AM and FM radio broadcast bands. The third resonant band is used for radio altimeters, satellite, and cordless telephones. The fourth resonant band is helpful for military applications and fixed satellites. The antenna design and simulation are done using CST microwave studio. The simulated parameters such as S-parameters, VSWR, radiation pattern, etc., are observed for the proposed structure. The simulation and the measured results are obtained and compared and presented in this paper.
