Harmonics compensation of the LCC in a parallel LCC-VSCs configuration for a hybrid AC/DC network

This work presents a harmonics compensation control scheme for a parallel LCC-VSCs interlinking converters (ICs) configuration in a hybrid AC/DC network. The proposed technique addresses the harmonic issue of the LCC unit with higher performance and lower cost. The harmonics mitigation technique is designed for medium/high voltage VSCs with low switching frequency. The control scheme’s implementation follows an approach to avoid interfering with the normal operation of the LCC and VSCs. The reactive power consumption issue of the LCCs is also addressed. Eventually, the pick-current capacity of the VSCs is calculated. Case study results including MATLAB/Simulink and experimental are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.
