A Fully Integrated CM Choke with Improved DM Noise Attenuation

Passive electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters are most widely used to solve the EMI issue during the design of grid-connected inverters. While in the era of high-frequency and highly-integrated power electronic systems, the optimization design of the EMI filter has become an important challenge, which aims to achieve microminiaturization and lightweight design of EMI filters. This study proposes to integrate the differential-mode (DM) capacitors in a common-mode (CM) filter based on flexible multi-layer foils (FMLFs). Compared to the existing partially integrated EMI filter, the proposed model is able to strengthen the DM noise suppression ability without increasing the weight and size. Finally, the experiments have been conducted based on a SiC MOSFET inverter to verify the validity of the proposed model.
