Path Loss Characterization for Incoming Signal in Building Corridor

The need for cellular communication networks is getting higher and most of the users of cellular communication networks are in buildings. However, users are often faced with the received signal is not optimal. Therefore, proper model propagation is needed to optimize the service. This paper analyzes radio path loss from the transmitting antenna outside the building to the receiving end inside the building corridor. This study is useful to find the right strategy to cover mobile users within the building. Several propagation models were selected, namely: Cost231, 3GPP, and WINNER +. The working frequency used in this study is 1795 MHz for the 2G system and 2045 MHz for the 3G system. The measurement results and propagation models are compared to find the right model with the smallest error. As a result, WINNER+ model has the smallest root mean square error (RMSE). A correction factor is found to fit WINNER + model for mobile communications signal propagation, which is 14.971 dB.
