Experimental Characteristics of Capacitor Voltage Balancing Control in Modular Matrix Converter for Isolated Medium-Voltage AC-DC Converter

This paper presents capacitor voltage balancing control which compensate for capacitor voltage imbalance of a modular matrix converter for an isolated medium-voltage AC-DC converter. The power source and DC-load are not affected by proposed control method for balancing capacitor voltage imbalance. The effectiveness of this control method is verified by experiments using 5-kW laboratory prototype.
