A Monte Carlo Analysis of Double Corrugated Waveguide for a G-band TWT Amplifier Fabricated by UV-LIGA

Due to the favorable properties like simple topology and compatibility with the cylindrical beam, the double corrugated waveguide is a promising interaction structure for signal amplification and generation at sub-terahertz range. Considerable efforts have been dedicated to deterministic analysis like exploring the dispersion curve for a forward-wave or backward-wave operation. However, the realization of a practical vacuum electronic source concerns also the fabrication process like UV-LIGA, in which multi-dimensional uncertainties are introduced. To quantitatively investigate the sophisticated influences on the final performance resulting from these uncertainties, a Monte Carlo analysis is applied in this work for a G-band amplifier application. The analytic methodology and consequent results are powerful supplements to the conventional design process through taking uncertainties in the unavoidable fabrication process into quantitative consideration.
