Finite Control Set Model Predictive Control (FCS - MPC) for Single-Phase Hybrid Active Power Filter in Dynamic Loads

Harmonics in the power system are the leading cause of the decline in power quality and affect performance, equipment, and protection systems. The harmonic reduction has investigated, starting from using a simple filter in the form of a passive filter to a hybrid filter with various control models offered for three-phase systems. Reductions in single-phase systems are still very rarely modeled because of the reference current generation system's limitations. This journal discusses the one-phase power hybrid filter using MPC control and references current generation using PQ modification so that it can be applied to a single-phase system and tested under dynamically changing nonlinear load conditions. The test results show that the hybrid power filter can work in dynamic situations and reduce THD from 18.81% to 0.45%, and from extreme conditions, 83.75% to 0.05%.
