Supply of Single-Phase Power for Rural Area using Three-Phase Self-Excited Induction Generator

Micro-hydro power energy sources is always been top in discussion for independent, off-grid and self-sufficient power generation. Typical rural area in India generally uses single phase loads, beside use of single phase generator; whereas three phase induction machine having appropriate balanced circuit symbolizes a trusted choice. Here, an effort is executed to develop a prototype setup with 2.2 kW 415 Volt, 4.8 Amp, three-phase Squirrel Cage Induction Machine (SCIM) to produce tangible single phase power using two capacitor method. A MATLAB simulation is developed and the result is validated with experimental setup.
