Airy beam enables single pass curved in-volume modifications and cutting of borosilicate glass

Ultra short laser pulses are commonly employed to cut glass using elongated in-volume modifications, so called "filaments" or "micro-/nano-perforations", and single pass cutting of up to 12 mm thick glass sheets has been demonstrated recently with an optimised Bessel-Gauss beam [1] . Considering however, that often a rounded edge is required for the final workpiece, it seems a natural choice to use an accelerated beam for cutting, aiming for a direct inscription of a convex profile along the edge. The most common example of such an accelerating non-diffracting beam is the Airy beam [2] .
