Novel laser light sources in the mid-infrared region enable new spectroscopic sensing schemes. The use of external cavity quantum cascade lasers (EC-QCL) for quantitative analysis of liquids is gaining more attention as it has been shown that by using these sources they can outperform established FTIR spectrometer in terms of sensitivity [1] .
