Development of rectangular cavity applicator for heating both legs simultaneously

This paper describes a heating method of the resonant cavity applicator for effective thermal rehabilitation of locomotive syndrome by computer simulation. As the population ages, locomotive syndrome has become a major issue. Epidemiological studies have shown that warming the deep muscle tissue can improve the symptoms of locomotive syndrome [1] . In our laboratory, resonant cavity applicators were developed for the purpose of effectively heating muscle tissue. However, since locomotion patients need to warm both legs at once a new heating device was needed. In this study, we proposed a new type of heating system which can heat both knees simultaneously and it enables deep heating without contact between a human surface and the applicator [2] . We also discussed the effectiveness of this applicator with estimated results of 3D human knee models using finite element method (FEM).
