Petri Net Model Predictive Control Method For Manufacturing Systems

A method of optimal schedule and control of AGVs in manufacturing systems is presented in this paper. Taking into account high complexity of manufacturing systems, it is difficult to search evolution states for an optimal schedule strategy. A model predictive control (MPC) method based on timed Petri net (TPN) is proposed. By predicting next step of AGVs, it can be utilized to quickly and effectively guide AGVs to complete given tasks, in turn to make multi-type tasks of a manufacturing system be performed by smartly schedule devices. In the meanwhile, numerical experiments are carried out to verify the proposed MPC algorithm.
