Impact of Varying Physical Links on QoS of Virtual Topology Management in WDM Networks

WDM has emerged as a promising technology for use in backbone transport networks. The end to end networking of wavelength in fully optical domain requires new design methods to enhance transmission and node processing capabilities. An optical layer consists of a set of light paths and can use in transport networks between the lower physical media layer and higher client layers. The nodes together with the set of light path at the optical layer form a virtual topology. In the existing system there are some constraints in adopting algorithms etc. In this paper our objective is to elaborate the process of conversion physical topology of WDM optical network into virtual topology which shows the light path, flows, distance, traffic and wavelength uses for the real time communication. All the experimental work done through MATLAB and analyse the result of virtual topology, with respect to varying number of links and their impact contrast to distance between source to receiver, average distance, traffic load, light path uses, hop count etc. In the experimental work taken the scenario of nine node with two variation of link connectivity such as 13 link (unidirectional) and 26 link (bidirectional).
