Quantum Model of Field Emission Based on Exchange-Correlation Effect at Nanoscale

This paper presents a quantum model of field emission based on the exchange-correlation effect at nanoscale, exploring the influence of exchange-correlation potential on the process of electron emission. It is shown that the exchange-correlation potential lowers the electron emission barrier, thereby increasing the electron emission density. Finally, the transition from the quantum model to the traditional Fowler-Nordheim (FN) law and the classical Child-Langmuir (CL) law in different regimes is demonstrated.
