Increase of Radiation Pulse Duration of CuBr-Laser in the Train Mode

The effect of the time delay between the dissociation pulses (the pulse train) and the excitation pulse on the laser pulse duration was studied. The laser pulse duration for a CuBr laser without the addition of HBr and with the addition of HBr was compared. Based on the experimental results, the most favorable ranges for regulating the time delay were obtained. It was shown that as the delay time increases, the duration of the radiation pulse increases as well. When HBr is added to the medium, the duration of the radiation pulse increases. The most favorable delay time control ranges are 0-500 μs for a CuBr laser without HBr; 0-1500 μs for operating with HBr. The further increase in the time delay leads to the decrease of radiation power.
