The assessment of a data management system for critical care

A patient data management system for intensive care was compared to manual record-keeping in a medical-surgical intensive care unit. The criteria for the comparison were the acceptance by the nurses, the reliability in collecting hemodynamic data and the physicians' ability to recall the patient data from the last 24 hours. The patient data management system appeared to be better with respect to all three criteria.<
