A High-Gain and Broadband Sector-Shaped Double-Sided Printed Dipole Array Antenna for Ad-Hoc Network Nodes

In this paper, a high-gain double-sided printed dipole array antenna is designed for Ad-Hoc network nodes. By changing the shape of the oscillator element, it is designed as a novel exponential gradient sector structure to achieve good broadband characteristics. The antenna dipole radiator arm is symmetrically distributed on the upper and lower surfaces of the dielectric substrate. Taking the radiator element as the array element, an 8-element planar array with a reflecting plate is designed. Simulations show that the proposed printed dipole array antenna has a bandwidth of 400MHz for voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) < 2, which can meet the frequency band required by the Ad-Hoc network nodes. The experimental verification of the antenna shows that the working bandwidth is 480MHz, the relative bandwidth reaches 14.5%, and the experimental result is in good agreement with the simulation result. The maximum gain of the antenna at the frequency points of 3.3 GHz, 3.5 GHz, and 3.7 GHz are all around 20.5dBi.
