4D Passive Radar for Drone Detection and Tracking

An upgraded version of IDEPAR demonstrator capable of detecting and extracting parameters from targets in a 4D measurements space(range, Doppler, azimuth and elevation) is presented to allow the localization of small aerial drones in the Cartesian space (x,y,z). A two-stage spatial filtering processing scheme based on a 2D reception antenna system provides target's directions of arrival (azimuth, elevation) for targets' localization in the Cartesian space. The PR system was validated in measurement campaigns using small drones confirming the location capabilities of the proposed approach.
