Optimization of Cooperative In Vivo Sensor Network Operating at Terahertz Frequency

In the current work, performance of cooperative as well as non-cooperative In Vivo sensor networks operating at terahertz frequency has been analyzed in terms of received power and energy. The human body as a wireless medium impacts signal propagation. Human tissues such as blood, fat, skin and water offer different permittivity to the signal. In this work a mathematical model has been formulated for cooperative and non-cooperative In Vivo sensor network where the dependence of received power and SNR on various parameters has been evaluated. A data set comprising of permittivity, pathloss and distance has been created from the proposed model. To optimize received power and energy, ANN is implemented, and the minimum error value of SNR is obtained which is further used to find optimized received power and energy for the In Vivo network under the considered scenario. Simulation results reveal that received power in the cooperative In Vivo network is increased by approx. 22% in the skin, 18%, in blood, 27% in water and 11% in fat and received energy is also increased by approx. 75% in comparison with the non-cooperative In Vivo network. It also has been noted that in comparison to other human tissues skin is the best medium for cooperative as well as non-cooperative scenario. Further optimized received power is increased by 37 % and 49 % for the non-cooperative and cooperative scenario respectively. Optimized received energy is increased by 11% and 20% for non- cooperative and cooperative scenario respectively.
