Anti-Plane Shear of an Elliptical Nano-Inclusions in Piezoelectric Composites with Imperfect Interfaces

Based on the spring layer model and Gurtin-Murdoch surface/interface model, the anti-plane shear of a three-phase nano-elliptical inclusion in piezoelectric composites with imperfect contacts is considered. By using the technique of mapping function and complex potential method, exact solutions in closed-form of stress and electric displacement in both the matrix and inclusion of piezoelectric composites are obtained. Furthermore, the electroelastic coefficient of piezoelectric nano-composite material with imperfect contacts is solved by the generalized self-consistent method. As a consequence, numerical analysis is illustrated to show the influences of the interface properties, the imperfection parameter and geometrical parameter of inclusion on the electroelastic modulus of the piezoelectric nanocomposites. The results indicate that the imperfect contacts result in a low electroelastic coefficient of piezoelectric nano-composite materials. The influence of interfacial properties on the electroelastic coefficient of piezoelectric nano-composite materials is greatly dependent on the interfacial imperfection, which is important for the designing of smart micro-/nano-devices in engineering practice.
