Home Energy Management Strategy for DR Accomplishment Considering PV Uncertainties and Battery Energy Storage System

Overpopulation has adverse effects on increasing energy consumption. This energy demand is so much that the traditional grid is unable to sustain energy supply. To meet this demand, battery energy storage and distributed generation sources are important in maintaining a constant energy supply. This paper minimizes the residential customer's energy cost with PV, battery storage system, and home to grid energy exchange. The results show how much home to grid energy exchange is important in reducing cost. A complete home energy management (HEM) system is explored, incorporating PV, battery storage system, and home to grid energy exchange. The cuckoo search (CS) optimization algorithm uses a residential home's data and develops optimal running of appliances. The results obtained from the algorithm depicts that the approach is beneficial and useful for the residential consumer to initiate different DR actions. The cost associated is reduced, and energy utilization is very efficient in the proposed scheme.
