The Design of an Airbag Automatic Inflator and the Simulation Analysis of Airbag in the Unfolding Process

An airbag automatic inflator was designed, which consists of a column pressure vessel, a bidirectional solenoid valve and a spherical airbag, etc. By introducing a thermodynamic model, its key parameters were analyzed and calculated according to the mass flow formula equation system. The numerical analysis models of the airbag with folding modes such as planar direct folding, symmetrical folding and roll folding were established to study the dynamic characteristics of the airbag inflating and unfolding, and the effects of the folding modes, the inflating rate and the inflating amount on the change of the curves of the volume and internal pressure of the airbag in the unfolding process were discussed respectively.
