CFD Generated Tracer Indicator Flow Assessment using Perfusion MRI Analysis

The emergence of multi-scale blood flow modelling from well-proven blood flow models has made the simulation of blood circulation throughout a vascular system computationally fast and accurate. It has a great potential to use both in medical science and further in clinical application for diagnosis and treatment. A replication of perfusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data is an implementation that produces digital reference data with known parameters. In this paper, we present an assessment and analysis of our blood flow model generated tracer indicator using a standard perfusion MRI analysis tool for medical data. The tracer indicator flow was generated using a multi-scale blood flow model in a vascular system to replicate dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(DCE-MRI) data. The aim is to initiate a digital phantom data generator development for validating standard DCE-MRI analysis tools. The generated tracer indicator flow was qualitatively resembling the real DCE-MRI data. Based on the perfusion MRI analysis using some tracer kinetic model (TKM), the chosen simulation setups well replicated the data for blood leakage in the extravascular tissue.
