A Wide-field Optical System for Detecting Space Debris Based on a Cubesat-Type Spacecraft

The article proposes a system for monitoring outer space from a CubeSat-type spacecraft for detecting space debris. The limiting size of space debris fragments is analyzed depending on the particle speed and distance to it, as well as on the parameters of the recording equipment. The main components of the system are selected. The number of objects detected during the mission was estimated and an energy analysis of both existing space debris detection systems and the proposed options was carried out, which showed that the detection of particles less than 1 cm in size is impossible from a distance of more than 5 km at a relative speed of 14 km / s.
