An E-band Mono-pulse Comparator with Planar Waveguide Structure

A novel E-band mono-pulse comparator used for beam sharpening that exhibits both compact and easy mechanical manufacture is presented. The comparator structure combines a 90° stub-loaded phase shifter and a Riblet short slot quadrature coupler. The measurement results demonstrate that the return loss of each port is more than 15 dB from 75 GHz to 80 GHz. The amplitude imbalance is within 0.8 dB for sum and difference ports, and the phase imbalance is within 9° for sum port and 13° for difference port, respectively. Compared to traditional mono-pulse comparator, all ports of the proposed structure can be conveniently arranged in a same plane without any complex transition structure and assembly process.
