A Compact Millimeter-Wave Cylindrical Lens Antenna For 5G Communication

A compact cylindrical lens antenna operating at 28GHz for millimeter-wave (MMW) band of the 5G communication system is proposed in this paper. The antenna is composed of a cylindrical homogeneous dielectric lens sandwiched in a parallel plate waveguide(PPW) and fed by a planar tapered slot antenna (TSA) array which is fabricated on one substrate. The simulation results show that multi-beam patterns in horizontal plane and a wide fan-shape beam are achieved and the gain is above 13dB.
