The possibility of using A390.0 alloy in modem internal combustion engines

The article presents studies specifying the friction coefficient μ and the amount of wear for cup 10-modified alloy A390.0 in combination with EN GJL-30 0.0. The tests were conducted using the T-01 tribological tester in the pin-disc system. The pin was from the tested material (A390.0) while the disc was made from cast iron EN GJL-300. In addition, the characteristics of the device and method of tribological studies were selected. An analysis of the surface decomposition of elements for the pin (silumin) and disc (cast iron) is also presented. The tests were carried out to determine whether the alloy under consideration meets the excessive requirements of materials intended for pistons for modern internal combustion engines used in automotive and aviation.
