Modified Square Microstrip Antenna for Dual Polarized Wideband Response

A modified square microstrip antenna fabricated on a thinner substrate is stated for dual polarized wideband response. Diagonal overlapping of square patches results in compact structure. The reported design yields 54% VSWR and 40% of gain bandwidth respectively. However, the reported work does not provide an enlightenment of resonant modes responsible for dual polarized wideband response. The present manuscript, gives in depth analysis by means of resonance curve plots and vector current distributions for dual polarized wideband response of reported configuration. modes of antenna that yields dual polarized wideband response. Further design of same configuration at 900 MHz (0.9 GHz) is presented yielding impedance bandwidth of 581MHz (57%).
