Comparative Analysis of SRF, PI and AWPI Controllers for Hybrid Standalone Microgrid

In this paper, different control techniques for the voltage source converter of an hybrid standalone microgrid are compared and discussed in detail. The main drawback of a PI controller is the integrator windup which will result in large overshoot and high settling time. This can be reduced by using an anti-windup PI controller. In this paper PI, AWPI and SRF controllers are used for same system and the results are compared. The hybrid system consists of two generating units, wind and solar unit supported by a BESS. P&O MPPT technique is used for extracting maximum power from wind and solar unit. For the protection of BESS from overcharging a dump-load is provided. The performance of the system with different controllers is tested and compared through modelling and simulation in MATLAB/Simulink.
