Chinese Spelling and Voice Interaction System based on Brain-Computer Interface

In order to improve the difficult condition of communication and expression of stroke patients with speech disorder, a Chinese spelling and voice interaction system based on brain-computer interface (BCI) was designed and implemented in this paper. The system mainly includes visual stimulation interface, EEG signal recognition and voice output. By gazing at the visual stimulation interface and analyzing the electroencephalography (EEG) signal, the selection of Chinese pinyin and tone was completed, and then the Chinese voice output of the whole sentence was played. In order to verify the feasibility of this system, 4 subjects were selected for offline and online experiments. The offline accuracy reached about 90%. These results demonstrated this system could complete Chinese voice interaction based on BCI, which could provide a novel way for voice interaction to Chinese stroke patients with speech disorders.
