A Wideband L-probe Fed Antenna Based on Metasurface with High Efficiency

A wideband L-probe fed metasurface (MS) antenna is presented in this paper. The proposed MS antenna is constructed by an MS, an L-probe and a ground plane. The MS is formed with an array of 4 × 4 periodic metal patches and fed by the L-shaped probe for a wideband operation. Simulated results including a wideband impedance bandwidth (IMBW) of 24.6% (2.78-3.56 GHz), a maximum gain of 8.4 dBi, and a high efficiency of more than 92% at 3.15 GHz are achieved. Stable unidirectional radiation patterns are also realized over the whole operating band.
