A novel Baravelle Spiral Multilayer Frequency Selective Surface for WLAN Applications

In this paper, a novel spiral multilayer frequency selective surface (MFSS) is proposed with element based on the concept of Baravelle spiral. A dual-band behavior at WLAN frequencies bands (2.4 GHz, 5.0 GHz or 5.8 GHz) has been obtained. The proposed structure is found to show stopband characteristics in the frequencies ranges from 1.67 GHz to 3.1 GHz and from 4.1 GHz to 5.9 GHz. In addition, the proposed MFSS shows an interesting characteristic of polarization stability.
