Research on flame location and distance measurement method based on binocular stereo vision

Flame location and distance measurement is one of the key technologies of automatic fire extinguishing system. At present, flame location and distance measurement are mainly through ultraviolet flame sensor, but it has the disadvantages of high-cost and close-distance to the fire source. This paper proposes a flame location and distance measurement method based on binocular stereo vision. Firstly, the plane method is used for stereo calibration of the camera to obtain the internal and external parameters of the camera; the flame information is accurately positioned according to the flame color and the movement characteristics of the flame centroid; the flame parallax image is obtained by the stereo matching BM algorithm; the triangular ranging model is established to calculate the flame distance. The experimental results show that the accuracy of flame location is greater than 95%, and the range error is less than 5% when the measurement range is between 0.5m and 5m. The accuracy of this method meets the requirement of automatic fire extinguishing system standards, and it is simple and easy to implement.
