Yb-Er-doped nanoparticles synthesis temperature effect on upconversion luminescence lifetime

Rare-earth doped crystalline nanoparticles are promising theranostic agents. Their optical parameters can vary depending on the synthesis process. The upconversion luminescence lifetimes of Yb-Er co-doped fluoride nanoparticles was studied for a series of samples obtained under varying synthesis temperature. The luminescence kinetics is processed using Maximum entropy method to evaluate independent lifetime components. It was found that the mean luminescence lifetime rises with the temperature, while its distribution becomes narrower, suggesting increasing structural homogeneity.
